I write comic mysteries in which nobody knows they are in a comedy.

Everyone in them is sincere, competent and doing their best. The situation is absurd. Nobody remarks on it. That gap is the whole point, and it is the reason the books are funny rather than jokey — the ship is the joke, and the holiday is never sad.

The Gilded Wren Mysteries are set aboard a small cruise ship that was three other ships first, run by a company that has discovered it is cheaper to have a room with a sign on it than to have a room. Six books. Each one stands on its own.

There will be a second series. It will not be on a cruise ship.
